After looking through the picture from Ellis Island, I believe families were filled with mixed emotions. I believe that, they were showing signs of having emotional whip lash. Not having any idea of what they were getting themselves into… having fantasies of opportunities, and hope of a new life. Holding an overwhelming feeling that everything was going to be okay, they were quite wrong. Stress and many difficulties came with the trip to Ellis Island. Families, orphan children, men, and women took a chance at a new life… knowing very little, families split, become worse at that point.
